What are you Eating?

I had a conversation with GOD about the Holy Spirit taking over my life, taking control of my flesh so that I would stop drinking, fornicating, and doing the things that I knew weren’t GOD approved or in line with GOD’s commands. GOD’s response was, “It’s not just gonna happen magically, Conner. You gotta feed the Holy Spirit in you more than your flesh.”

We say, “LORD, have your way”, even when we have a beer in our hands. “LORD, have your way”, even when we’re looking at pornography. “LORD, have your way”, even when we’re in rebellion. “LORD, have your way”, even when anger just caused us to lash out. “LORD, have your way”, even when we’re going against GOD’s word and will for our lives.

GOD says, “That’s fine because I hear you, but if you want the Holy Spirit to take control of your flesh you’re gonna have to feed Him. Give the Holy Spirit free reign in your life so that He can take control of your flesh." How? We feed the Holy Spirit and make Him stronger in our lives.

Whatever we feed grows. Whatever we do not feed dies. Plants, pets, ourselves, our talents, our relationships, our habits, etc. So, how do we feed the Holy Spirit in our lives?

Even while we are in rebellion, we also set aside time for GOD making sure we pray daily, all throughout the day. Keep in constant communication with GOD. Listen to worship music. Listen to sermons. Read the bible. Complete devotional plans on an app. These things allow the presence of the Holy Spirit to grow in our lives. A wise person once said, “What we listen to influences us, and what entertains us trains us.” If we want change, GOD and the things of GOD should be what we’re listening to and being entertained by.

Doing these things will grow the Holy Spirit’s presence in our lives until the desire to rebel and do those other activities of the flesh begin to fall away.

I was asking about stopping bad habits and living holy, and the pastor’s wife at my old church told me that we don’t have the strength to fight the devil or to stop doing those worldly activities. She said we can’t stop on our own. We’ll do good for a minute, then a few days later we’re right back at it. She went on to say that if we focus on the things of GOD, those other ungodly things will begin to fall away, and she’s right.

So, I’m here to remind you if you’re caught up in your addictions, things you know aren’t good for you, things you know are against GOD’s will for your life...begin to give GOD a little more of your time each day. Be sure not to let a day go by when you’re not reading the bible and praying to GOD.

Again, for the person who says, “I wanna stop drinking. I wanna stop fornicating. I wanna stop using drugs. I wanna stop being angry. I wanna stop stealing, lying, and being disrespectful to my parents, etc.” Just get into the bible, pray, believe, and it shall come to pass. Ask GOD to change your life and HE will. Just keep on believing until it happens. Remember that line from The Matrix, “The mind makes it real.” “Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.” (Hebrews 11:1 KJV). Our faith makes it real.

The Formula

I’m a chess coach and a day trader, so I’m big on systems and formulas that give results. The formula is: promises from the bible+praying those promises=they come to pass in our lives. That’s it.

Even if we don’t see results right away, our only job is to speak the promise that GOD made in HIS word and have the faith to believe it will come to pass and it will; doubt is the killer of the promise, but faith will bring it to pass.

“ 5 If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him. 6 But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed.” (James 1:5-6 King James Version).

“23 For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith. 24 Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them.” (Mark 11:23-24 KJV).

Guard against unbelief. It will blind us to the truth of GOD’s word. “3 But if our gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost: 4 In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.” (2 Corinthians 4:4 KJV).

“16 Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.” (James 5:16 KJV). The prayers of the righteous bring victory! Be blessed, Family. May your change come according to your faith.

“28 When he had gone indoors, the blind men came to him, and he asked them, ‘Do you believe that I am able to do this?’ ‘Yes, Lord,’ they replied. 29 Then he touched their eyes and said, ‘According to your faith let it be done to you’; 30 and their sight was restored.” (Matthew 9:28-30a New International Version).

Yes, GOD can, will, and wants to restore you. Seek HIM today. HE is waiting for you with open arms. Feed yourself more and more of GOD, and watch what the Holy Spirit will do in and through your life.

“16 May our Lord Jesus Christ himself and God our Father, who loved us and by his grace gave us eternal encouragement and good hope, 17 encourage your hearts and strengthen you in every good deed and word.” (2 Thessalonians 2:16-17 NIV). Amen, it is so. May it be fulfilled.

How to be Saved

Romans 10: 9-13

That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. 10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. 11 For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed. 12 For there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek: for the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon him. 13 For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved (KJV).

9 If you openly declare that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For it is by believing in your heart that you are made right with God, and it is by openly declaring your faith that you are saved. 11 As the Scriptures tell us, “Anyone who trusts in him will never be disgraced.” 12 Jew and Gentile are the same in this respect. They have the same Lord, who gives generously to all who call on him. 13 For “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved” (NLT).

Say the welcoming word to God—“Jesus is my Master”—embracing, body and soul, God’s work of doing in us what he did in raising Jesus from the dead. That’s it. You’re not “doing” anything; you’re simply calling out to God, trusting him to do it for you. That’s salvation. With your whole being you embrace God setting things right, and then you say it, right out loud: “God has set everything right between him and me!” 11-13 Scripture reassures us, “No one who trusts God like this—heart and soul—will ever regret it.” It’s exactly the same no matter what a person’s religious background may be: the same God for all of us, acting the same incredibly generous way to everyone who calls out for help. “Everyone who calls, ‘Help, God!’ gets help. (MSG).

Romans 5:8

8 But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. (KJV)

8 But God showed his great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners. (NLT)

It is your belief that saves you, family. If you believe, you will speak what you believe and not be ashamed or embarrassed to do so, whether you are alone or among others. Simply talk to GOD. Say aloud to God:

“I confess all my sin known and unknown, and ask You, GOD, to forgive me. I believe Jesus was born of a virgin, crucified, died for my sins, and rose from the dead. Jesus, come into my heart and make me new in You. Save me, Lord! Jesus, you are Lord. Be Lord over my life. Thank You, GOD for Your forgiveness. Thank You, Jesus, for making me Your own. Amen.”

You are now saved. You may not feel different or you may. Just know that the internal change is taking place once you uttered that prayer in faith. Day by day, you will begin to be transformed into whom GOD wants and created you to be. You will care more about the things of GOD than your own personal desires, and you will want to share the word of GOD when you have the opportunity. Begin to read your bible daily, and learn about GOD's will for your life. If you are not already a member of a local church, I encourage you to pray and allow GOD to guide you to the right fellowship for you. The pastor will help you grow in your gifts and talents so that you can begin to use them for GOD’s glory, and you and the other members will encourage and help each other along this journey with GOD.

The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. Amen.
