Jesus Got Up, and So Did We

Good Friday commemorates day one of the death and burial of Jesus. His dead body was placed in a tomb. Today, on what believers call Holy Saturday, Jesus was still dead and lying in that tomb. Why is all of this important? “8 But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.” (Romans 5:8 King James Version). Jesus died for us when we were still sinners who didn’t acknowledge Him, believe in Him, listen to Him, follow or obey Him. We showed Him no loyalty or respect, yet He still died for us.

Verse seven elaborates. “7 For scarcely for a righteous man will one die: yet peradventure for a good man some would even dare to die.” (Romans 5:7 KJV). This verse tells us that rarely would someone die for an innocent person who was both holy and upright before GOD; and maybe someone would be bold enough to die for a good person who has benefited them in some way or treated others well. But, who would dare to die for a guilty person who spit in their face and cheered on their death sentence? His name is Jesus.

Why would Jesus die for us? “16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” (John 3:16 KJV). It’s a love thing. GOD loved us. HE loved HIS creation, and did not want to abandon it or us to satan.

GOD had a plan from the beginning, and HE intended to see it through. That’s why all things work together for good for those who love GOD and are called according to HIS purposes (Romans 8:28). GOD will always bring HIS plans to pass. That’s encouragement for someone who needed to hear that today. Hold on, cause it gets better!

GOD’s Plan

“26 And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth. 27 So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.” (Genesis 1:26-27 KJV).

That was and still is GOD’s plan. We are to rule earth, and look like our Father doing it. After the LORD created us, HE stepped back and looked at everything HE had made and said it was very good (Genesis 1:31)! GOD was well pleased. And to this day, it is still very good. How do I know? Because He sent Jesus to make things right after the fall of humans in Genesis 3, instead of giving up on us and starting fresh. Immediately after the first sin was committed, GOD put the redemption plan in place.

“15 And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel.” (Genesis 3:15 KJV). GOD, speaking to the devil in this verse, makes it plain that the crucifixion was the plan from the beginning. The woman’s seed, being Jesus, would attack/strike satan’s head (Without a head, animal nor man can operate), dealing a permanent crumbling blow that he could never recover from (Hebrews 2:14-15; Revelation 20:13-14. Satan would attack Jesus’ heel (a non-vital spot that can be recovered from if injured). He died, but picked His life back up again (John 10:17-18).

We celebrate this holy week season because Jesus got up with all power (Matthew 28:20). And now, through the Holy Spirit, we have power to be Jesus’ witnesses (Acts 1:8). We have the power to die to self and live to do GOD’s will (1 Peter 4:1-2). We have the power to cast out unclean spirits, heal all manner of sickness and disease, raise the dead, cleanse lepers, speak with new tongues, pick up serpents, and if we drink poison unknowingly, it will not harm us. (Matthew 10:1, 7-8; Mark 16:17-18).

Even though we have the power to do all these things, Jesus told us to calm down and see the bigger picture. He said all of that is great, but the real reason to rejoice is that our names are written in heaven, meaning that we are saved from hell and we will be with GOD and Jesus face to face one day. That is true and everlasting joy. May we all think on these things, and thank both GOD and Jesus for their sacrifice and love for all of us. Be blessed, Family. Happy Resurrection Day tomorrow. He got up!

“21 The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. Amen.” (Revelation 22:21 KJV).

How to be Saved

Romans 10: 9-13

That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. 10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. 11 For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed. 12 For there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek: for the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon him. 13 For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved (KJV).

9 If you openly declare that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For it is by believing in your heart that you are made right with God, and it is by openly declaring your faith that you are saved. 11 As the Scriptures tell us, “Anyone who trusts in him will never be disgraced.” 12 Jew and Gentile are the same in this respect. They have the same Lord, who gives generously to all who call on him. 13 For “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved” (NLT).

Say the welcoming word to God—“Jesus is my Master”—embracing, body and soul, God’s work of doing in us what he did in raising Jesus from the dead. That’s it. You’re not “doing” anything; you’re simply calling out to God, trusting him to do it for you. That’s salvation. With your whole being you embrace God setting things right, and then you say it, right out loud: “God has set everything right between him and me!” 11-13 Scripture reassures us, “No one who trusts God like this—heart and soul—will ever regret it.” It’s exactly the same no matter what a person’s religious background may be: the same God for all of us, acting the same incredibly generous way to everyone who calls out for help. “Everyone who calls, ‘Help, God!’ gets help. (MSG).

Romans 5:8

8 But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. (KJV)

8 But God showed his great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners. (NLT)

It is your belief that saves you, family. If you believe, you will speak what you believe and not be ashamed or embarrassed to do so, whether you are alone or among others. Simply talk to GOD. Say aloud to God:

“I confess all my sin, known and unknown, and ask You, GOD to forgive me. I believe Jesus was born of a virgin, crucified, died for my sins, and rose from the dead. I want Jesus to come into my heart to make me new in Him. I believe Jesus is Lord over my life and over everything that exists. Thank You, GOD for Your forgiveness. Thank You, Jesus, for making me Your own. Amen.”

You are now saved. You may not feel different or you may. Just know that the internal change is taking place once you uttered that prayer in faith. Day by day, you will begin to be transformed into whom GOD wants and created you to be. You will care more about the things of GOD than your own personal desires, and you will want to share the word of GOD when you have the opportunity. Begin to read your bible daily, and learn about GOD's will for your life. If you are not already a member of a local church, I encourage you to pray and allow GOD to guide you to the right fellowship for you. The pastor will help you grow in your gifts and talents so that you can begin to use them for GOD’s glory, and you and the other members will encourage and help each other along this journey with GOD.

The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. Amen.
